Quarantine Life: The Organizing Edition

It’s day 47 of my quarantine life and I have to say it’s been pretty interesting for us to say the least. For starters we moved into a new apartment during a pandemic and it was the most frustrating experience, but we made it! To be honest the worst part were the delays of moving due to Covid-19 and the move-in experience as a whole. Let’s just say Dom and I will be hiring movers the next time around! But there’s some good from moving during a stay at home order — like having so much free time to unpack. Also, having a new space and the combination of quarantining has given me the desire to find better ways to organize our home. I know I’m not the only one that has the organizing bug in them right now so I wanted to share some of the items that I either bought so far, or that I’m really interested in buying and literally stalking pages for sales.

1. simplehuman Foam Soap Pump
When I went on this organizing craze my ads on Instagram, of course, started showing me products that fall into this category. One brand that caught my eye was simplehuman. Yes, the sponsored ads finally got me y’all. I fell in love with the brand before even buying a product because I love how they just think of everything to literally make your life, simple.

Ok, so I did finally purchase the Foam Sensor Pump after Dom requesting us to buy a sensored soap pump due to the Coronavirus and to make it easier for us to wash our hands while cooking. After researching the prices from different stores, I bought one directly from the simplehuman website on sale for $60. It came with the lavender foam soap cartridge. I love that it’s a sensor pump and the soap scent is soooo good!

2. simplehuman Shower Caddy
Okay yes next is another simplehuman product. I told y’all I’m loving this brand! For years Dom and I have always lined up our shower essentials on the borders of the tub. The reason we’ve done this for so long is because I hated how every shower caddy would get so rusted and yucky, and would fall down the shower head often. But our alternative wasn’t that much better because we were constantly cleaning our essentials because they were getting wet and gross from the shower. With this new move and the fact of having a stand-a-lone shower I knew I wanted to buy a top notch caddy and the large sized adjustable simplehuman shower caddy fits the bill. It’s adjustable features are the best and it’s rust-proof (I’ll have to give an update on this after we’ve had it for a while). I also love how it has a screw in grip around the shower head, so no more falling down issues!

3. OXO Good Grips Expandable Wall Mount Organizer
Our prior apartment had a decent sized laundry room and it’s where we store most of our cleaning essentials. However, our new place lacks space in the laundry room so I wanted to purchase something that would help me maximize the space we do have. I’m thinking this wall mount organizer will do the job and I’ll probably buy it in the near future.

4. simplehuman Stainless Steel Bag Holder
If you’re like me then you hoard all of your plastic shopping bags to use for something later. But I’ve grown tired of our bags taking up so much space underneath our kitchen sink. Lately I’ve been looking for other alternatives to store the bags and that’s when I came across this. It’s such a great idea!
5. OXO POP 3 pc Airtight Round Canister Set
In our last apartment I tried the whole placing the flour, sugar and brown sugar in the Korken glass jars from Ikea, but unfortunately they didn’t work out as well as I thought. This time around I wanted to take a different approach and purchase canisters that I knew for sure would keep my sugars and flour fresh. The reviews for these canisters are excellent and I can’t wait to try them out! They’re currently being shipped to me.

6. OXO Good Grips 4.5 qt. POP Cereal Dispenser
In another effort to free up space, I decided to buy OXO cereal dispenser that’s in the same collection as the canisters. We usually purchase our cereals from BJs Wholesale so they come in these large and cumbersome boxes. Now I won’t have to deal with the boxes or just having cereal bags lying around. I’m excited for these to arrive too!
I hope this lists helps you with some home organizing goals of your own!
