4 Tips on How to Take Your Best Photos at Home
With winter here and covid still tagging along, I made a goal to figure out how to take better photos at home. I’m determined to boost my content this year and taking more photos in the comfort of my home will help me out with this. If you’re looking to do the same, here’s 4 tips to make your home photos better.

1. Go Where the Light Is
I am big on natural light! Luckily, our new apartment gives enough natural light on even the gloomiest days. So it allows me the ability to take photos pretty much everywhere in our apartment. If your home lacks in natural sunlight, make sure to take photos on the sunniest of days so you can get as much light as possible. Also, make an effort to be near a window if possible. If you can’t get much natural light, try purchasing a ring light or soft box. I’ve never used either before, but have heard they are the best tools!
2. Think Outside of the Box
Living in an apartment provides many locations to take a photo such as the lobby, mail room, conference room or even the stairwell. I’ve made sure to take advantage of the lobby and stairwell of our apartment. This has helped me to create a couple of cool photos, but still allowed me the ability to be inside.
3. Use a Prop
To make your photo interesting add in some props. This time, I decided not to include one. But it’s always fun to add in a book, a cup of tea/coffee or even your phone.
4. Clear and/or Rearrange Your Space
How you currently have something arranged in your home might not work for your photoshoot. You’ll have to play around with things to make it work! Case in point, where I’m taking my photo here is where Barks food and water station is. See that wouldn’t be aesthetically pleasing, he’s a messy eater haha.
