How I Decide to Choose My Outfits

As a fashion blogger you have to be super creative with creating outfits, especially if you’re like me who doesn’t want to spend so much on clothes. I think this is why I love fashion so much because it gives you the chance to express your creativity. In the past, I was not consistent with coming up with different outfits and I lacked in my consistency of creating content. During the pandemic, I took the time to improve on how I choose outfits. Here are 5 things I do to choose my outfits for my photo shoots.

1. Visualize & Write Down

I have always been good at visualizing how an outfit will look so I continue to do this. To make sure that I don’t forget any of my visualizations, I created a note log on my iPhone and keep a notebook to write down my ideas.

2. Use my Clothing Rack

Honestly, I think using my new clothing rack is the biggest reason why I have become a lot more consistent with creating content. Why? Because it’s always important to see what you have so that you can come up with fresh new ideas. So every month I try to rotate in and out different pieces that I want to style or focus on the most for the month. Seeing these pieces everyday has really encouraged me to create something new regularly. I’m always looking at my clothing rack now like “Hey, I forgot I bought this. Let me try to come up with a way to style it or how I can remix it.” You can check out my clothing rack on a reel I created on my Instagram page.

3. Inspiration

When I’m on Instagram or Pinterest and notice someone styling a piece that I may have, it will inspire me to jot down some ideas of my own and create an outfit with that piece.

4. Try on Outfits

Let’s face it all of my visualizations don’t always come out the way I visualized. If this happens, I have to improvise and recreate. That’s why it’s important that I try on any of my outfit ideas beforehand. During these try ons, I might end up coming up with additional outfits because it helps me to visualize even more ways a piece can be styled.

5. Ask Others Opinions

My husband, mom and sister are my critics. I’m always constantly walking out to the living room to ask my husband’s opinion or shooting my mom and sister a text for their input.
