Lessons Learned From Bulk Photo Shooting

Yesterday I took a shot at doing some bulk shooting. My plan was to shoot 9 looks in one day to assist with my consistency goals and creating more content. I went in with high hopes and was excited to get things done, but I ended the day with some lessons learned.

Instead of shooting 9 looks, I was able to get 4 looks done with the help of Dom. The biggest obstacles I faced was not liking the location I chose as much and changing clothes in a sports car is rough. So I decided to list out a few things to improve my next bulk shooting opportunity and offer some ideas that might help you.

1. Research your location – For this shooting expedition I chose Occoquan, VA because I thought there would be many backdrop options and plus I love the vibe there. Although I was right about the many options I didn’t take into account that the town was holding their Holiday Fest and it was the last day. Although we made it out there early in the morning there were so many people, which slowed us up.

2. Find a better way to change clothes – I honestly wish that we had a bigger car or maybe try changing in a place that allows me to use their restroom. Another option that I’ve been looking into is buying a pop-up tent. Have you ever tried this?

3. Spread the amount of looks across two days instead of one – I think I need to experiment more with bulk shooting because I may have started off too strong. Next time I’m going to shoot 4-5 looks on Saturday and Sunday until I get better at this.

If you’re a blogger that is also trying to improve your consistency and create more content I hope some of these lessons learned/tips can help you with getting those shoots done too. If you have any tips let me know!
