Why I Loved Visiting San Francisco: Part One

Why-I-Loved-Visiting-San-Francisco-Part-One-1

Warm weather and palm trees are just a couple of things I think of when California is mentioned. But surprisingly enough you really won’t find much of that in San Francisco. Although it lacks some of the usual “Cali” norms it is still nothing short of amazing, and so far is one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited! Here is part one of why I loved San Francisco!

Last month I had the opportunity to travel to San Francisco with my husband, my best friend, and her boyfriend. We spent four days in the city to celebrate my bestie’s 30th birthday! I never knew that in such a small span of time we could do sooo much, but we did.

The Proximity of Everything

It was so nice to get to San Francisco and find out that everything was so close to our hotel. My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Parc 55, which was in the center of Union Square where all of the popular stores like Nike, Saks Fifth Avenue, Hermès, and more are located. Even if you wanted to visit other popular tourist areas like Alcatraz, the Wharf, or the Golden Gate Bridge (I’ll tell my experience about this in part 2) you could take a Uber around the city and it wouldn’t be bad at all.

The Food

If you follow me on Instagram then you know I’m a foodie. In fact, you can catch some of the good eats I had in San Fran under my “San Francisco” highlight of on my feed. Our first night in the city we hit the foodie jackpot when we attended the “Off the Grid” food truck festival. I loved this food festival not just because the food was amazing but they offered a VIP Special that was so worth it! For $25 we were able to skip the lines and try food from four food trucks. I tried ribs, ramen, chili tater tots, and macaroons. It was all delicious!

To be honest I don’t think we had one bad meal out in San Fran! Crazy right? Here’s a list of the other restaurants we visited:

  • Eight AM (breakfast) – their waffles are amazing!
  • Farmerbrown (breakfast) – this was the only soul food spot we tried and I loved it. The biscuits and gravy were delicious! There was also live music, that was actually good!
  • Honey Honey Cafe and Crepery – I loved my iced mocha coffee.

Chinatown

Before the planning of this trip I was not aware that San Francisco has the #1 rated Chinatown in the United States. So of course visiting here was on our list of to-dos, and I’m so glad that we had the opportunity to visit. My favorite part about Chinatown was the murals! This was just a few we were able to capture. It was also cool to go in the different shops and see some of the Chinese culture, and the smells from the restaurants were intoxicting.. These photos are from the first day in San Fran.

I chose to walk through Chinatown wearing a leather jacket and crop top sweater and some high waisted jeans (shop the look below!). Tip – if you ever plan to visit San Francisco make sure to bring a jacket because they are known to have some chilly nights!

Like I said earlier we did so much in San Fran; therefore, there was no way I can tell you all everything I loved about the city in one post. So stay tuned because I’ll be talking about my visit to the Museum of Ice Cream in part 2!
