Simple Chic with A Velvet Vest
Sometimes simple is the best chic……
It’s Saturday morning, I check my phone to see what the weather will be like and I discover that the high will be 60 degrees. My first thought was what will I wear?! It’s between a dress or jeans. I opt for high waisted jeans because I am not sure how warm 60 degrees in the winter truly is, and I’m always cold. So I chose the safe route. I also grab my velvet vest from the closet because I have been dying to wear it and start to think of what outfit combinations I can do with these two.
I would consider a black vest or blazer as a staple piece for every fashionista. I have never owned a black vest before so when I spotted this one for only $15, I snatched it up real fast. As I tried it on at home with different looks I just continued to fall in love with it. This past Saturday I decided on a grey and black outfit combination, and paired the vest with my grey turtleneck.
What’s a black and grey outfit combination without a pop of color? Still an amazing outfit, but why not turn it up just a notch? This is exactly how I was feeling, so I decided to throw on a bright lipstick and my green shades.
My simple look now turns into a fun simple chic look. Tip of the day: Always find a way to make your look fun. This can be accomplished by wearing a shade of lipstick that you might not always wear or adding in something interesting like a novelty bag/accessory.
By the way I am in love with my new Topshop jeans! I have never owned a pair and I’m little disappointed that it took this long for me to buy some, but I assure you that this will not be my last. They are so comfortable and fit me like a glove!
I’m so looking forward to styling this vest other ways on the blog! What’s a style staple piece of clothing that you plan on wearing this winter?
