Open Front Cardigan Coat + Over the Knee Boots

“Challenge Yourself”

As I poured myself a green smoothie, I grabbed one of my favorite glasses that was inscribed with “challenge yourself.” I thought it was the perfect quote for the day being that I had woke myself up early on a Saturday — an act that I rarely do. So that was my first challenge. The second challenge was attending the Yoga Sculpt class at CorePower Yoga that has always intimidated me for some reason. The third challenge was being more bold, a boss, and confident with myself in this photo shoot. I’m happy to say that I think I succeeded with all of my challenges of the day! 

After my Saturday yoga class. I decided to stop by Old Navy to look at their activewear selection since it was on sale. I am in love with working out, it really liberates me and makes me feel great. So the more I workout, the more fitness clothing I need. I picked up an activewear tank top with the words “turn it up,” it’s perfect! While I browsed some more I stopped at the clearance rack and spotted this cute and stylish open front cardigan coat. I love the pattern of this coat and the fact that it’s not an item that I normally have in my closet. It was originally $60 and was on sale for $20 -— what a sale! As I waited in line to purchase it, I thought of all the outfit combinations I could do with it. One of those outfit combos was this one! 

First, I am in love with my new Over the Knee Boots. I recently purchased them from Lulus. My initial purchase experience started off rocky since I received the boots with a noticeable stain. However, Lulus worked with me and offered me 30% off the boots. Plus I was able to get the stain out, 🙌🏾 it was a win win! Tip of the day: if you ever receive an item that has a noticeable defect (that can be fixed) reach out to corporate to see what they are willing to do for you. Even in-store employees are willing to give at least 10 percent off an item with a defect. 

Bodysuits are a favorite trend of mine! Plus I have moments of nostalgia whenever I wear one because it makes me think of childhood memories of sporting these. This particular one has an open back. I’ve never worn it without a bra because of how thin it is. So I always try to pair it with a trendy bra. This time I thought it would be so dope to pair it with this one that I purchased on sale at Urban Outfitters some months ago. So even when I happened to remove my Cardigan coat, this bralette and bodysuit still made my outfit a show stopper! 

Accessories can definitely make or break an item. I always make a note to not go overboard with them. With this particular outfit I thought these Target earrings went perfect with the pattern on the coat. The glasses gave the right amount of coolness that I needed to add. I didn’t want a bag that would distract from everything else so I wore my favorite weekend bag without the straps which blended well with the look. Oh by the way my lipgloss is popping with my Fenty glitter lip-gloss, haha.  Love Rihanna’s makeup collection!
