My Happily Ever After
Most women have dreamed of their wedding day as little girls. Some would think that I would be that girl, but believe it or not I hardly thought much about it other than having the desire to want to get married one day. So after my engagement (read about it on my previous post, “The Proposal”), when it was time to decide what type of wedding I wanted, I was so lost! To be honest I was soooo close to getting married at the courthouse, but I’m here to let you know that even a small intimate wedding is worth having!
The Ceremony
Once wedding planning was underway I knew I wanted a small wedding with only our very close friends and family. So when we decided that the courthouse was no longer an option, Google became my best friend. I began to search other locations that would allow a wedding ceremony to be done for free. After some research I found Carlyle Historic House Park in Alexandria, VA.
Our Happily Ever After began on 8.4.17.
Although it seemed like we would never make it to the ceremony due to my makeup appointment taking forever and traffic, the whole day was magical. We shed tears of joy together and were so happy to share that moment with our family.
The Dress
One of my favorite parts of my wedding was my dress. I loved that it had small intricate details like the lace on the halter top, and that was I able to get it at a reasonable price from Lulu’s. Such a steal!
A couple of days before the wedding, I l felt that something was missing so I went to Michael’s to search for something I could add to the dress. I found the belt and hoped that it would look right, and it did! I loved the belt because it added a bit of glam to my look that I wanted.
The Reception
We booked our reception at Maggiano’s which I am so happy we did because we had a great experience working with the staff during the process and when the actual event took place. We also snagged a deal because it was a weekday and they had an August promotion going on!
I loved the atmosphere of the reception – it fit with my sort of vintage and romantic theme. We had the best time celebrating with our friends and family!
The Vendors
We loved our vendors! We loved that we were able to help young black entreprenuers like our photographer Brittany from BChique and DJ Jigga C. Tip: The thumbtack application is a great tool to use when searching for different vendors for your wedding. Also, don’t hestitate to reach out to friends you may know! Our photographer and DJ did such an amazing job and made our wedding extra special!
Our Happily Ever After
Our theme was happily ever after with pops of color of blush and gold. It was a magical day and night that I would never forget. I’m so happy that we both decided to have a wedding and that we have our happily ever after.
